BACKPORT: ASoC: add snd_soc_card_mutex_lock/unlock()
ASoC need to use card->mutex with _INIT or _RUNTIME, but there is no helper function for it. This patch adds its helper function and use it. Because people might misunderstand that _init() is mutex initialization, this patch renames _INIT to _ROOT and adds new snd_soc_card_mutex_lock_root() for it. BACKPORT: ASoC: expand snd_soc_dpcm_mutex_lock/unlock()
soc-pcm.c has snd_soc_dpcm_mutex_lock/unlock(), but other files can't use it because it is static function. It requests snd_soc_pcm_runtime as parameter (A), but sometimes we want to use it by snd_soc_card (B). (A) static inline void snd_soc_dpcm_mutex_lock(struct snd_soc_pcm_runtime *rtd) { mutex_lock_nested(&rtd->card->pcm_mutex, rtd->card->pcm_subclass); } ^^^^^^^^^ (B) mutex_lock_nested(&card->pcm_mutex, card->pcm_subclass); ^^^^ We want to use it with both "rtd" and "card" for dapm lock/unlock. To enable it, this patch uses _Generic macro. This patch makes snd_soc_dpcm_mutex_{un}lock() global function, and use it on each files. BACKPORT: ASoC: expand snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock()
soc.h has snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock() definition and many drivers are using it, but soc-dapm.c is not. 1st reason is snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock() requests snd_soc_dapm_context pointer as parameter (A), but sometimes soc-dapm.c needs to use snd_soc_card (B). (A) static inline void snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock(struct snd_soc_dapm_context *dapm) { mutex_lock_nested(&dapm->card->dapm_mutex, SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_RUNTIME); } ^^^^^^^^^^ (B) mutex_lock_nested(&card->dapm_mutex, SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_RUNTIME); ^^^^ 2nd reason is it want to use SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_INIT for mutex_lock_nested(), but helper is using _RUNTIME (A). The conclusion is we want to use "dapm vs card" and "_RUNTIME vs _INIT" for dapm lock/unlock. To enable this selfish request, this patch uses _Generic macro. We can use snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock/unlock() for both dapm and card case. snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock(dapm); snd_soc_dapm_mutex_unlock(dapm); snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock(card); snd_soc_dapm_mutex_unlock(card); Current soc-dapm.c is using both mutex_lock() and mutex_lock_nested(). This patch handles mutex_lock() as mutex_lock_nested(..., 0), in other words, handles below as same. mutex_lock(&card->dapm_mutex); mutex_lock_nested(&card->dapm_mutex, SND_SOC_DAPM_CLASS_INIT); Because people might misunderstand that _init() is mutex initialization, this patch renames _INIT to _ROOT and adds new snd_soc_dapm_mutex_lock_root() for it. This patch also moves snd_soc_dapm_subclass definition from soc-dapm.h to soc.h to keep related code together. Because very complex soc.h vs soc-dapm.h relationship, it is difficult/impossible to define these helper into soc-dapm.h. ASoC: tegra: Fix redundant PLLA and PLLA_OUT0 updates
[ Upstream commit e765886249c533e1bb5cbc3cd741bad677417312 ]
Tegra audio graph card has many DAI links which connects internal
AHUB modules and external audio codecs. Since these are DPCM links,
hw_params() call in the machine driver happens for each connected
BE link and PLLA is updated every time. This is not really needed
for all links as only I/O link DAIs derive respective clocks from
PLLA_OUT0 and thus from PLLA. Hence add checks to limit the clock
updates to DAIs over I/O links.
This found to be fixing a DMIC clock discrepancy which is suspected
to happen because of back to back quick PLLA and PLLA_OUT0 rate
updates. This was observed on Jetson TX2 platform where DMIC clock
ended up with unexpected value.

commit 1263cc0f414d212129c0f1289b49b7df77f92084 upstream. Like the Lenovo 82TL and 82V2, the Lenovo 82QF (Yoga 7 14ARB7) and 82UG (Legion S7 16ARHA7) both need a quirk entry for the internal microphone to function. Commit c008323fe361 ("ASoC: amd: yc: Fix a non-functional mic on Lenovo 82SJ") restricted the quirk that previously matched "82" to "82V2", breaking microphone functionality on these devices. ASoC: rt5640: Revert "Fix sleep in atomic context"
[ Upstream commit fa6a0c0c1dd53b3949ca56bf7213648dfd6a62ee ] Commit 70a6404ff610 ("ASoC: rt5640: Fix sleep in atomic context") not only switched from request_irq() to request_threaded_irq(), to fix the sleep in atomic context issue, but it also added devm management of the IRQ by actually switching to devm_request_threaded_irq() (without any explanation in the commit message for this change). This is wrong since the IRQ was already explicitly managed by the driver. On unbind the ASoC core will call rt5640_set_jack(NULL) which in turn will call rt5640_disable_jack_detect() which frees the IRQ already. So now we have a double free. Besides the unexplained switch to devm being wrong, the actual fix for the sleep in atomic context issue also is not the best solution. The only thing which rt5640_irq() does is cancel + (re-)queue the jack_work delayed_work. This can be done in a single non sleeping call by replacing queue_delayed_work() with mod_delayed_work(), which does not sleep. Using mod_delayed_work() is a much better fix then adding a thread which does nothing other then queuing a work-item. This patch is a straight revert of the troublesome changes, the switch to mod_delayed_work() is done in a separate follow-up patch. ASoC: tegra: Fix SFC conversion for few rates
commit d900d9a435ca95a386f49424f3689cd17ec201da upstream.
Sample rate conversions for rates greater than 48kHz are found to be
failing. It means x->y conversions fail when either x or y is greater
than 48kHz.
This happens because, tegra210_sfc_rate_to_idx() returns incorrect
index for rates greater than 48kHz. This actually depends on the
tegra210_sfc_rates[] array and it is not in sync with frequency
values of SFC TX/RX register. To be precise, 64kHz entry is missing
in above array defined in the driver. Due to this wrong index is
returned and this results in incorrect programming of coefficients.
To fix this, align the tegra210_sfc_rates[] array with SFC register
specification and thus add 64kHz entry to it. Also, the coefficient
table is updated to reflect that none of the conversions are supported
for 64kHz.

ALSA: hda/cirrus: Fix broken audio on hardware with two CS42L42 codecs.
commit 99bf5b0baac941176a6a3d5cef7705b29808de34 upstream. Recently in v6.3-rc1 there was a change affecting behaviour of hrtimers (commit 0c52310f260014d95c1310364379772cb74cf82d) and causing few issues on platforms with two CS42L42 codecs. Canonical/Dell has reported an issue with Vostro-3910. We need to increase this value by 15ms. ALSA: pcm: Fix missing fixup call in compat hw_refine ioctl
commit 358040e3807754944dbddf948a23c6d914297ed7 upstream.
The update of rate_num/den and msbits were factored out to
fixup_unreferenced_params() function to be called explicitly after the
hw_refine or hw_params procedure. It's called from
snd_pcm_hw_refine_user(), but it's forgotten in the PCM compat ioctl.
This ended up with the incomplete rate_num/den and msbits parameters
when 32bit compat ioctl is used.
This patch adds the missing call in snd_pcm_ioctl_hw_params_compat().

um: Fix hostaudio build errors
[ Upstream commit db4bfcba7bb8d10f00bba2a3da6b9a9c2a1d7b71 ] Use "select" to ensure that the required kconfig symbols are set as expected. Drop HOSTAUDIO since it is now equivalent to UML_SOUND. Set CONFIG_SOUND=m in ARCH=um defconfig files to maintain the status quo of the default configs. Allow SOUND with UML regardless of HAS_IOMEM. Otherwise there is a kconfig warning for unmet dependencies. (This was not an issue when SOUND was defined in arch/um/drivers/Kconfig. I have done 50 randconfig builds and didn't find any issues.) This fixes build errors when CONFIG_SOUND is not set: ld: arch/um/drivers/hostaudio_kern.o: in function `hostaudio_cleanup_module': hostaudio_kern.c:(.exit.text+0xa): undefined reference to `unregister_sound_mixer' ld: hostaudio_kern.c:(.exit.text+0x15): undefined reference to `unregister_sound_dsp' ld: arch/um/drivers/hostaudio_kern.o: in function `hostaudio_init_module': hostaudio_kern.c:(.init.text+0x19): undefined reference to `register_sound_dsp' ld: hostaudio_kern.c:(.init.text+0x31): undefined reference to `register_sound_mixer' ld: hostaudio_kern.c:(.init.text+0x49): undefined reference to `unregister_sound_dsp' and this kconfig warning: WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for SOUND Fixes: |

ALSA: ac97: Fix possible error value of *rac97
[ Upstream commit 67de40c9df94037769967ba28c7d951afb45b7fb ] Before committing 79597c8bf64c, *rac97 always be NULL if there is an error. When error happens, make sure *rac97 is NULL is safer. For examble, in snd_vortex_mixer(): err = snd_ac97_mixer(pbus, &ac97, &vortex->codec); vortex->isquad = ((vortex->codec == NULL) ? 0 : (vortex->codec->ext_id&0x80)); If error happened but vortex->codec isn't NULL, this may cause some problems. ALSA: usb-audio: Add quirk for Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset
[ Upstream commit 3da435063777f8d861ba5a165344e3f75f839357 ] Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset (appearing on the host as "Microsoft USB Link") has a playback and a capture mixer volume/switch, but they are fairly broken. The descriptor reports wrong dB ranges for playback, and the capture volume/switch don't influence on the actual recording at all. Moreover, there seem instabilities in the connection, and at best, we should disable the runtime PM. So this ended up with a quirk entry for: - Correct the playback dB range; I picked up some reasonable values but it's a guess work - Disable the capture mixer; it's completely useless and confuses PA/PW - Suppress get-sample-rate, apply the delay for message handling, and suppress the auto-suspend The behavior of the wheel control on the headset is somehow flaky, too, but it's an issue of HID.
