a6c4384446 Input: ads7846 - convert to full duplex

Starting with 3eac5c7e44 ("Input: ads7846 - extend the driver for ads7845
controller support"), the ads7845 was partially converted to full duplex
mode.

Since it is not touchscreen controller specific, it is better to extend
this conversion to cover entire driver. This will reduce CPU load and make
driver more readable.

9a6dca86cf Input: iqs269a - configure device with a single block write

Unless it is being done as part of servicing a soft reset interrupt,
configuring channels on-the-fly (as is the case when writing to the
ati_trigger attribute) may cause GPIO3 (which reflects the state of
touch for a selected channel) to be inadvertently asserted.

To solve this problem, follow the vendor's recommendation and write
all channel configuration as well as the REDO_ATI register field as
part of a single block write. This ensures the device has been told
to re-calibrate itself following an I2C stop condition, after which
sensing resumes and GPIO3 may be asserted.

b7afc359f6 Input: iqs269a - increase interrupt handler return delay

The time the device takes to deassert its RDY output following an
I2C stop condition scales with the core clock frequency.

To prevent level-triggered interrupts from being reasserted after
the interrupt handler returns, increase the time before returning
to account for the worst-case delay (~140 us) plus margin.

a6a70ab2bb Input: iqs269a - drop unused device node references

Each call to device/fwnode_get_named_child_node() must be matched
with a call to fwnode_handle_put() once the corresponding node is
no longer in use. This ensures a reference count remains balanced
in the case of dynamic device tree support.

Currently, the driver does not call fwnode_handle_put() on nested
event nodes. This patch solves this problem by adding the missing
instances of fwnode_handle_put().

As part of this change, the logic which parses each channel's key
code is gently refactored in order to reduce the number of places
from which fwnode_handle_put() is called.

a82d493604 Input: i8042 - add TUXEDO devices to i8042 quirk tables

A lot of modern Clevo barebones have touchpad and/or keyboard issues after
suspend fixable with nomux + reset + noloop + nopnp. Luckily, none of them
have an external PS/2 port so this can safely be set for all of them.

I'm not entirely sure if every device listed really needs all four quirks,
but after testing and production use. No negative effects could be
observed when setting all four.

The list is quite massive as neither the TUXEDO nor the Clevo dmi strings
have been very consistent historically. I tried to keep the list as short
as possible without risking on missing an affected device.

This is revision 3. The Clevo N150CU barebone is still removed as it might
have problems with the fix and needs further investigations. The
SchenkerTechnologiesGmbH System-/Board-Vendor string variations are
added. This is now based in the quirk table refactor. This now also
includes the additional noaux flag for the NS7xMU.

04d99a0a96 Input: i8042 - merge quirk tables

Merge i8042 quirk tables to reduce code duplication for devices that need
more than one quirk. Before every quirk had its own table with devices
needing that quirk. If a new quirk needed to be added a new table had to
be created. When a device needed multiple quirks, it appeared in multiple
tables. Now only one table called i8042_dmi_quirk_table exists. In it every
device has one entry and required quirks are coded in the .driver_data
field of the struct dmi_system_id used by this table. Multiple quirks for
one device can be applied by bitwise-or of the new SERIO_QUIRK_* defines.

Also align quirkable options with command line parameters and make vendor
wide quirks per device overwriteable on a per device basis. The first match
is honored while following matches are ignored. So when a vendor wide quirk
is defined in the table, a device can inserted before and therefore
ignoring the vendor wide define.

3afd738e77 Input: elants_i2c - properly handle the reset GPIO when power is off

As can be seen in elants_i2c_power_off(), we want the reset GPIO
asserted when power is off. The reset GPIO is active low so we need
the reset line logic low when power is off to avoid leakage.

We have a problem, though, at probe time. At probe time we haven't
powered the regulators on yet but we have:

  devm_gpiod_get(&client->dev, "reset", GPIOD_OUT_LOW);

While that _looks_ right, it turns out that it's not. The
GPIOD_OUT_LOW doesn't mean to init the GPIO to low. It means init the
GPIO to "not asserted". Since this is an active low GPIO that inits it
to be high.

Let's fix this to properly init the GPIO. Now after both probe and
power off the state of the GPIO is consistent (it's "asserted" or
level low).

Once we fix this, we can see that at power on time we no longer to
assert the reset GPIO as the first thing. The reset GPIO is _always_
asserted before powering on. Let's fix powering on to account for
this.

9bbb587472 Input: soc_button_array - add Acer Switch V 10 to dmi_use_low_level_irq[]

Like on the Acer Switch 10 SW5-012, the Acer Switch V 10 SW5-017's _LID
method messes with home- and power-button GPIO IRQ settings, causing an
IRQ storm.

Add a quirk entry for the Acer Switch V 10 to the dmi_use_low_level_irq[]
DMI quirk list, to use low-level IRQs on this model, fixing the IRQ storm.

4ea4316dff Input: soc_button_array - add use_low_level_irq module parameter

It seems that the Windows drivers for the ACPI0011 soc_button_array
device use low level triggered IRQs rather then using edge triggering.

Some ACPI tables depend on this, directly poking the GPIO controller's
registers to clear the trigger type when closing a laptop's/2-in-1's lid
and re-instating the trigger when opening the lid again.

Linux sets the edge/level on which to trigger to both low+high since
it is using edge type IRQs, the ACPI tables then ends up also setting
the bit for level IRQs and since both low and high level have been
selected by Linux we get an IRQ storm leading to soft lockups.

As a workaround for this the soc_button_array already contains
a DMI quirk table with device models known to have this issue.

Add a module parameter for this so that users can easily test if their
device is affected too and so that they can use the module parameter
as a workaround.

c1620e996d Input: goodix - try resetting the controller when no config is set

On ACPI systems (irq_pin_access_method == IRQ_PIN_ACCESS_ACPI_*) the driver
does not reset the controller at probe time, because sometimes the system
firmware loads a config and resetting might loose this config.

On the Nanote UMPC-01 device OTOH the config is in flash of the controller,
the controller needs a reset to load this; and the system firmware does not
reset the controller on a cold boot.

To fix the Nanote UMPC-01 touchscreen not working on a cold boot, try
resetting the controller and then re-reading the config when encountering
a config with 0 width/height/max_touch_num value and the controller has
not already been reset by goodix_ts_probe().

This should be safe to do in general because normally we should never
encounter a config with 0 width/height/max_touch_num. Doing this in
general not only avoids the need for a DMI quirk, but also might help
other systems.

24cc679abb Input: iforce - invert valid length check when fetching device IDs

syzbot is reporting uninitialized value at iforce_init_device() [1], for
commit 6ac0aec6b0 ("Input: iforce - allow callers supply data buffer
when fetching device IDs") is checking that valid length is shorter than
bytes to read. Since iforce_get_id_packet() stores valid length when
returning 0, the caller needs to check that valid length is longer than or
equals to bytes to read.

9c13b1a044 Input: xpad - fix wireless 360 controller breaking after suspend
commit a17b9841152e7f4621619902b347e2cc39c32996 upstream.

Suspending and resuming the system can sometimes cause the out
URB to get hung after a reset_resume. This causes LED setting
and force feedback to break on resume. To avoid this, just drop
the reset_resume callback so the USB core rebinds xpad to the
wireless pads on resume if a reset happened.

A nice side effect of this change is the LED ring on wireless
controllers is now set correctly on system resume.

6c5742372b Input: snvs_pwrkey - fix SNVS_HPVIDR1 register address

Both i.MX6 and i.MX8 reference manuals list 0xBF8 as SNVS_HPVIDR1
(chapters 57.9 and 6.4.5 respectively).

Without this, trying to read the revision number results in 0 on
all revisions, causing the i.MX6 quirk to apply on all platforms,
which in turn causes the driver to synthesise power button release
events instead of passing the real one as they happen even on
platforms like i.MX8 where that's not wanted.

b271090eea Input: iforce - wake up after clearing IFORCE_XMIT_RUNNING flag

syzbot is reporting hung task at __input_unregister_device() [1], for
iforce_close() waiting at wait_event_interruptible() with dev->mutex held
is blocking input_disconnect_device() from __input_unregister_device().

It seems that the cause is simply that commit c2b27ef672 ("Input:
iforce - wait for command completion when closing the device") forgot to
call wake_up() after clear_bit().

Fix this problem by introducing a helper that calls clear_bit() followed
by wake_up_all().

6771609e19 Input: atmel_mxt_ts - fix up inverted RESET handler

This driver uses GPIO descriptors to drive the touchscreen RESET line. In
the existing device trees this has in conflict with intution been flagged
as GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH and the driver then applies the reverse action by
driving the line low (setting to 0) to enter reset state and driving the
line high (setting to 1) to get out of reset state.

The correct way to handle active low GPIO lines is to provide the
GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW in the device tree (thus properly describing the hardware)
and letting the GPIO framework invert the assertion (driving high) to a
low level and vice versa.

This is considered a bug since the device trees are incorrectly
mis-specifying the line as active high.

Fix the driver and all device trees specifying a reset line.

already, but the same problem applies to the 1051F. As there are no
further 1051 variants (just the F/L), we can just DMI match 1051.

Tested on a Lenovo Yoga Tablet2 1051F: Without this patch the
home-button stops working after a wakeup from suspend.

The bcm5974 driver does the allocation and dma mapping of the usb urb
data buffer, but driver does not set the URB_NO_TRANSFER_DMA_MAP flag
to let usb core know the buffer is already mapped.

usb core tries to map the already mapped buffer, causing a warning:
"xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: rejecting DMA map of vmalloc memory"

Fix this by setting the URB_NO_TRANSFER_DMA_MAP, letting usb core
know buffer is already mapped by bcm5974 driver

baf86afed7 Input: stmfts - do not leave device disabled in stmfts_input_open

The commit 26623eea0da3 attempted to deal with potential leak of runtime
PM counter when opening the touchscreen device, however it ended up
erroneously dropping the counter in the case of successfully enabling the
device.

Let's address this by using pm_runtime_resume_and_get() and then executing
pm_runtime_put_sync() only when we fail to send "sense on" command to the
device.

According to Ilitek "231x & ILI251x Programming Guide" Version: 2.30
"2.1. Power Sequence", "T4 Chip Reset and discharge time" is minimum
10ms and "T2 Chip initial time" is maximum 150ms. Adjust the reset
timings such that T4 is 12ms and T2 is 160ms to fit those figures.

This prevents sporadic touch controller start up failures when some
systems with at least ILI251x controller boot, without this patch
the systems sometimes fail to communicate with the touch controller.

All amba drivers return 0 in their remove callback. Together with the
driver core ignoring the return value anyhow, it doesn't make sense to
return a value here.

Change the remove prototype to return void, which makes it explicit that

the core remove callback to return void, too.

b75198edda Revert "Input: clear BTN_RIGHT/MIDDLE on buttonpads"

This reverts commit 37ef4c19b4c659926ce65a7ac709ceaefb211c40.

The touchpad present in the Dell Precision 7550 and 7750 laptops
reports a HID_DG_BUTTONTYPE of type MT_BUTTONTYPE_CLICKPAD. However,
the device is not a clickpad, it is a touchpad with physical buttons.

In order to fix this issue, a quirk for the device was introduced in
libinput [1] [2] to disable the INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD property:

However, because of the change introduced in 37ef4c19b4 ("Input: clear
BTN_RIGHT/MIDDLE on buttonpads") the BTN_RIGHT key bit is not mapped
anymore breaking the device right click button and making impossible to
workaround it in user space.

In order to avoid breakage on other present or future devices, revert
the patch causing the issue.

I observed the following problem with the BT404 touch pad
running the Phosh UI:

When e.g. typing on the virtual keyboard pressing "g" would
produce "ggg".

After some analysis it turns out the firmware reports that three
fingers hit that coordinate at the same time, finger 0, 2 and
4 (of the five available 0,1,2,3,4).

This is one touch and release: i.e. this is all reported on
touch (down) and release.

There is a field in the struct touch_event called finger_cnt
which is actually a bitmask of the fingers active in the
event.

Rename this field finger_mask as this matches the use contents
better, then use for_each_set_bit() to iterate over just the
fingers that are actally active.

Factor out a finger reporting function zinitix_report_fingers()
to handle all fingers.

Also be more careful in reporting finger down/up: we were
reporting every event with input_mt_report_slot_state(..., true);
but this should only be reported on finger down or move,
not on finger up, so also add code to check p->sub_status
to see what is happening and report correctly.

After this my Zinitix BT404 touchscreen report fingers
flawlessly.

The vendor drive I have notably does not use the "finger_cnt"
and contains obviously incorrect code like this:

  if (touch_dev->touch_info.finger_cnt > MAX_SUPPORTED_FINGER_NUM)
      touch_dev->touch_info.finger_cnt = MAX_SUPPORTED_FINGER_NUM;

As MAX_SUPPORTED_FINGER_NUM is an ordinal and the field is
a bitmask this seems quite confused.

endpoint type. There was a check for the number of endpoints, but not

Make the samsung-keypad driver explicitly depend on CONFIG_HAS_IOMEM, as it
calls devm_ioremap(). This prevents compile errors in some configs (e.g,

a621ae6394 Input: elan_i2c - fix regulator enable count imbalance after suspend/resume

Before these changes elan_suspend() would only disable the regulator
when device_may_wakeup() returns false; whereas elan_resume() would
unconditionally enable it, leading to an enable count imbalance when
device_may_wakeup() returns true.

This triggers the "WARN_ON(regulator->enable_count)" in regulator_put()
when the elan_i2c driver gets unbound, this happens e.g. with the
hot-plugable dock with Elan I2C touchpad for the Asus TF103C 2-in-1.

Fix this by making the regulator_enable() call also be conditional
on device_may_wakeup() returning false.

5d4b00e053 Input: clear BTN_RIGHT/MIDDLE on buttonpads

Buttonpads are expected to map the INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD property bit
and the BTN_LEFT key bit.

As explained in the specification, where a device has a button type
value of 0 (click-pad) or 1 (pressure-pad) there should not be
discrete buttons:

However, some drivers map the BTN_RIGHT and/or BTN_MIDDLE key bits even
though the device is a buttonpad and therefore does not have those
buttons.

This behavior has forced userspace applications like libinput to
implement different workarounds and quirks to detect buttonpads and
offer to the user the right set of features and configuration options.

In order to avoid this issue clear the BTN_RIGHT and BTN_MIDDLE key
bits when the input device is register if the INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD
property bit is set.

Notice that this change will not affect udev because it does not check
for buttons. See systemd/src/udev/udev-builtin-input_id.c.

674071c9eb Input: zinitix - make sure the IRQ is allocated before it gets enabled

Since irq request is the last thing in the driver probe, it happens
later than the input device registration. This means that there is a
small time window where if the open method is called the driver will
attempt to enable not yet available irq.

The spaceball.c module was not properly parsing the movement reports
coming from the device.  The code read axis data as signed 16-bit
little-endian values starting at offset 2.

In fact, axis data in Spaceball movement reports are signed 16-bit
big-endian values starting at offset 3.  This was determined first by
visually inspecting the data packets, and later verified by consulting:
http://spacemice.org/pdf/SpaceBall_2003-3003_Protocol.pdf

If this ever worked properly, it was in the time before Git...

Syzbot has reported warning in __flush_work(). This warning is caused by
work->func == NULL, which means missing work initialization.

This may happen, since input_dev->close() calls
cancel_work_sync(&dev->work), but dev->work initalization happens _after_
input_register_device() call.

So this patch moves dev->work initialization before registering input
device

We've got a bug report about the non-working keyboard on ASUS ZenBook
UX425UA.  It seems that the PS/2 device isn't ready immediately at
boot but takes some seconds to get ready.  Until now, the only
workaround is to defer the probe, but it's available only when the
driver is a module.  However, many distros, including openSUSE as in
the original report, build the PS/2 input drivers into kernel, hence
it won't work easily.

This patch adds the support for the deferred probe for i8042 stuff as
a workaround of the problem above.  When the deferred probe mode is
enabled and the device couldn't be probed, it'll be repeated with the
standard deferred probe mechanism.

The deferred probe mode is enabled either via the new option
i8042.probe_defer or via the quirk table entry.  As of this patch, the
quirk table contains only ASUS ZenBook UX425UA.

The deferred probe part is based on Fabio's initial work.

To make this clearer to the compiler, use the '|=' operator to assign
the result of each touchscreen_get_prop_u32() call to data_present,
which keeps the meaning of the code the same but makes it obvious that
every one of these calls is expected to happen.

On i.MX7S and i.MX8M* (but not i.MX6*) the pwrkey device has an
associated clock. Accessing the registers requires that this clock is
enabled. Binding the driver on at least i.MX7S and i.MX8MP while not
having the clock enabled results in a complete hang of the machine.
(This usually only happens if snvs_pwrkey is built as a module and the
rtc-snvs driver isn't already bound because at bootup the required clk
is on and only gets disabled when the clk framework disables unused clks
late during boot.)

This completes the fix in commit 135be16d35 ("ARM: dts: imx7s: add
snvs clock to pwrkey").

Move the DMI quirks for upside-down mounted Goodix touchscreens from
drivers/input/touchscreen/goodix.c to
drivers/platform/x86/touchscreen_dmi.c,
where all the other x86 touchscreen quirks live.

Note the touchscreen_dmi.c code attaches standard touchscreen
device-properties to an i2c-client device based on a combination of a
DMI match + a device-name match. I've verified that the: Teclast X98 Pro,
WinBook TW100 and WinBook TW700 uses an ACPI devicename of "GDIX1001:00"
based on acpidumps and/or dmesg output available on the web.

This patch was tested on a Teclast X89 tablet.

Even though we validate user-provided inputs we then traverse past
validated data when applying the new map. The issue was originally
discovered by Murray McAllister with this simple POC (if the following
is executed by an unprivileged user it will instantly panic the system):

87264fb5ab Input: silead - add workaround for x86 BIOS-es which bring the chip up in a stuck state

Some buggy BIOS-es bring up the touchscreen-controller in a stuck
state where it blocks the I2C bus. Specifically this happens on
the Jumper EZpad 7 tablet model.

After much poking at this problem I have found that the following steps
are necessary to unstuck the chip / bus:

1. Turn off the Silead chip.
2. Try to do an I2C transfer with the chip, this will fail in response to
   which the I2C-bus-driver will call: i2c_recover_bus() which will unstuck
   the I2C-bus. Note the unstuck-ing of the I2C bus only works if we first
   drop the chip of the bus by turning it off.
3. Turn the chip back on.

On the x86/ACPI systems were this problem is seen, step 1. and 3. require
making ACPI calls and dealing with ACPI Power Resources. This commit adds
a workaround which runtime-suspends the chip to turn it off, leaving it up
to the ACPI subsystem to deal with all the ACPI specific details.

There is no good way to detect this bug, so the workaround gets activated
by a new "silead,stuck-controller-bug" boolean device-property. Since this
is only used on x86/ACPI, this will be set by model specific device-props
set by drivers/platform/x86/touchscreen_dmi.c. Therefor this new
device-property is not documented in the DT-bindings.

Dmesg will contain the following messages on systems where the workaround
is activated:

Despite these errors, the elants_i2c driver stays bound to the device
(it returns 0 from its probe method despite the errors), blocking the
i2c-hid driver from binding.

Manually unbinding the elants_i2c driver and binding the i2c-hid driver
makes the touchscreen work.

Check if the ACPI-fwnode for the touchscreen contains one of the i2c-hid
compatiblity-id strings and if it has the I2C-HID spec's DSM to get the
HID descriptor address, If it has both then make elants_i2c not bind,
so that the i2c-hid driver can bind.

This assumes that non of the (older) elan touchscreens which actually
need the elants_i2c driver falsely advertise an i2c-hid compatiblity-id
+ DSM in their ACPI-fwnodes. If some of them actually do have this
false advertising, then this change may lead to regressions.

While at it also drop the unnecessary DEVICE_NAME prefixing of the
"I2C check functionality error", dev_err already outputs the driver-name.

nibble of each is stored in byte 3. Currently they are only
being shifted by 3 causing the reported coordinates to be incorrect.

This matches downstream examples, and has been confirmed on my
device (OnePlus 7 Pro).

The driver registers an interrupt handler in _probe, but didn't configure
them until later when the _open function is called. In between, the keypad
can fire an IRQ due to touchpad activity, which the handler ignores. This
causes the kernel to disable the interrupt, blocking the keypad from
working.

Fix this by disabling interrupts before registering the handler.
Additionally, disable them in _close, so that they're only enabled while
open.

The response to a command may never arrive or it may be corrupted (and
hence dropped) for some reason. While exceedingly rare, when it did
happen it blocked all further commands. One way to fix this was to
do a suspend/resume. However, recovering automatically seems like a
nicer option. Hence this puts a time limit (1 sec) on how long we're
willing to wait for a response, after which we assume it got lost.

After commit 77b425399f ("Input: i8042 - use chassis info to skip
selftest on Asus laptops"), all modern Asus laptops have the i8042
selftest disabled. It has done by using chassys type "10" (laptop).

The Asus Zenbook Flip suffers from similar suspend/resume issues, but
it _sometimes_ work and sometimes it doesn't. Setting noselftest makes
it work reliably. In this case, we need to add chassis type "31"
(convertible) in order to avoid selftest in this device.

279e54536d tty: convert tty_ldisc_ops 'read()' function to take a kernel pointer

The tty line discipline .read() function was passed the final user
pointer destination as an argument, which doesn't match the 'write()'
function, and makes it very inconvenient to do a splice method for
ttys.

This is a conversion to use a kernel buffer instead.

NOTE! It does this by passing the tty line discipline ->read() function
an additional "cookie" to fill in, and an offset into the cookie data.

The line discipline can fill in the cookie data with its own private
information, and then the reader will repeat the read until either the
cookie is cleared or it runs out of data.

The only real user of this is N_HDLC, which can use this to handle big
packets, even if the kernel buffer is smaller than the whole packet.

3a492e4403 Input: ili210x - implement pressure reporting for ILI251x

The ILI251x seems to report pressure information in the 5th byte of
each per-finger touch data element. On the available hardware, this
information has the values ranging from 0x0 to 0xa, which is also
matching the downstream example code. Report pressure information
on the ILI251x.

0e8d632e41 Input: omap4-keypad - fix runtime PM error handling

In omap4_keypad_probe, the patch fix several bugs.

  1) pm_runtime_get_sync will increment pm usage counter even it
     failed. Forgetting to pm_runtime_put_noidle will result in
     reference leak.

  2) In err_unmap, forget to disable runtime of device,
     pm_runtime_enable will increase power disable depth. Thus a
     pairing decrement is needed on the error handling path to keep
     it balanced.

  3) In err_pm_disable, it will call pm_runtime_put_sync twice not
     one time.

To fix this we factor out code reading revision and disabling touchpad, and
drop PM reference once we are done talking to the device.

eced9dfb66 Input: ads7846 - fix integer overflow on Rt calculation

In some rare cases the 32 bit Rt value will overflow if z2 and x is max,
z1 is minimal value and x_plate_ohms is relatively high (for example 800
ohm). This would happen on some screen age with low pressure.

There are two possible fixes:
- make Rt 64bit
- reorder calculation to avoid overflow

The second variant seems to be preferable, since 64 bit calculation on
32 bit system is a bit more expensive.

To let userspace know what 'scancodes' should be used in EVIOCGKEYCODE
and EVIOCSKEYCODE ioctls, we should send EV_MSC/MSC_SCAN events in
addition to EV_KEY/KEY_* events. The driver already declared MSC_SCAN
capability, so it is only matter of actually sending the events.

3b384bd6c3 Input: raydium_ts_i2c - do not split tx transactions
Raydium device does not like splitting of tx transactions into multiple
messages - one for the register address and one for the actual data. This
results in incorrect behavior on the device side.

This change updates raydium_i2c_read and raydium_i2c_write to create
i2c_msg arrays separately and passes those arrays into raydium_i2c_xfer
which decides based on the address whether the bank switch command should
be sent. The bank switch header is still added by raydium_i2c_read and
raydium_i2c_write to ensure that all these operations are performed as part
of a single I2C transfer. It guarantees that no other transactions are
initiated to any other device on the same bus after the bank switch command
is sent.
