x86/entry_32: Clear CPU buffers after register restore in NMI return
commit 48a2440d0f20c826b884e04377ccc1e4696c84e9 upstream.
CPU buffers are currently cleared after call to exc_nmi, but before
register state is restored. This may be okay for MDS mitigation but not for
RDFS. Because RDFS mitigation requires CPU buffers to be cleared when
registers don't have any sensitive data.
Move CLEAR_CPU_BUFFERS after RESTORE_ALL_NMI.

x86/apic: Always explicitly disarm TSC-deadline timer

New processors have become pickier about the local APIC timer state
before entering low power modes. These low power modes are used (for
example) when you close your laptop lid and suspend. If you put your
laptop in a bag and it is not in this low power mode, it is likely
to get quite toasty while it quickly sucks the battery dry.
The problem boils down to some CPUs' inability to power down until the
CPU recognizes that the local APIC timer is shut down. The current
kernel code works in one-shot and periodic modes but does not work for
deadline mode. Deadline mode has been the supported and preferred mode
on Intel CPUs for over a decade and uses an MSR to drive the timer
instead of an APIC register.
Disable the TSC Deadline timer in lapic_timer_shutdown() by writing to
MSR_IA32_TSC_DEADLINE when in TSC-deadline mode. Also avoid writing
to the initial-count register (APIC_TMICT) which is ignored in
TSC-deadline mode.
Note: The APIC_LVTT|=APIC_LVT_MASKED operation should theoretically be
enough to tell the hardware that the timer will not fire in any of the
timer modes. But mitigating AMD erratum 411[1] also requires clearing
out APIC_TMICT. Solely setting APIC_LVT_MASKED is also ineffective in
practice on Intel Lunar Lake systems, which is the motivation for this
change.

x86/resctrl: Annotate get_mem_config() functions as __init
commit d5fd042bf4cfb557981d65628e1779a492cd8cfa upstream. After a recent LLVM change [1] that deduces __cold on functions that only call cold code (such as __init functions), there is a section mismatch warning from __get_mem_config_intel(), which got moved to .text.unlikely. as a result of that optimization: WARNING: modpost: vmlinux: section mismatch in reference: \ __get_mem_config_intel+0x77 (section: .text.unlikely.) -> thread_throttle_mode_init (section: .init.text) Mark __get_mem_config_intel() as __init as well since it is only called from __init code, which clears up the warning. While __rdt_get_mem_config_amd() does not exhibit a warning because it does not call any __init code, it is a similar function that is only called from __init code like __get_mem_config_intel(), so mark it __init as well to keep the code symmetrical. As already done for x86_64 and compat mode, do not use memcpy() to
extract syscall arguments from struct pt_regs but rather just perform
direct assignments. Binary output differences are negligible, and actually
ends up using less stack space:

perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix sampling synchronization

pt_event_snapshot_aux() uses pt->handle_nmi to determine if tracing
needs to be stopped, however tracing can still be going because
pt->handle_nmi is set to zero before tracing is stopped in pt_event_stop,
whereas pt_event_snapshot_aux() requires that tracing must be stopped in
order to copy a sample of trace from the buffer.
Instead call pt_config_stop() always, which anyway checks config for
RTIT_CTL_TRACEEN and does nothing if it is already clear.
Note pt_event_snapshot_aux() can continue to use pt->handle_nmi to
determine if the trace needs to be restarted afterwards.

xen: use correct end address of kernel for conflict checking

When running as a Xen PV dom0 the kernel is loaded by the hypervisor
using a different memory map than that of the host. In order to
minimize the required changes in the kernel, the kernel adapts its
memory map to that of the host. In order to do that it is checking
for conflicts of its load address with the host memory map.
Unfortunately the tested memory range does not include the .brk
area, which might result in crashes or memory corruption when this
area does conflict with the memory map of the host.
Fix the test by using the _end label instead of __bss_stop.

x86/ibt,ftrace: Search for __fentry__ location

However with Intel IBT enabled the first instruction of a function will most likely be ENDBR. Change ftrace_location() to not only return the __fentry__ location when called for the __fentry__ location, but also when called for the sym+0 location. Then audit/update all callsites of this function to consistently use these new semantics. x86/hyperv: Set X86_FEATURE_TSC_KNOWN_FREQ when Hyper-V provides frequency
[ Upstream commit 8fcc514809de41153b43ccbe1a0cdf7f72b78e7e ] A Linux guest on Hyper-V gets the TSC frequency from a synthetic MSR, if available. In this case, set X86_FEATURE_TSC_KNOWN_FREQ so that Linux doesn't unnecessarily do refined TSC calibration when setting up the TSC clocksource. With this change, a message such as this is no longer output during boot when the TSC is used as the clocksource: [ 1.115141] tsc: Refined TSC clocksource calibration: 2918.408 MHz Furthermore, the guest and host will have exactly the same view of the TSC frequency, which is important for features such as the TSC deadline timer that are emulated by the Hyper-V host. x86/mm: Fix PTI for i386 some more
commit c48b5a4cf3125adb679e28ef093f66ff81368d05 upstream. So it turns out that we have to do two passes of pti_clone_entry_text(), once before initcalls, such that device and late initcalls can use user-mode-helper / modprobe and once after free_initmem() / mark_readonly(). Now obviously mark_readonly() can cause PMD splits, and pti_clone_pgtable() doesn't like that much. Allow the late clone to split PMDs so that pagetables stay in sync. x86/mtrr: Check if fixed MTRRs exist before saving them

MTRRs have an obsolete fixed variant for fine grained caching control
of the 640K-1MB region that uses separate MSRs. This fixed variant has
a separate capability bit in the MTRR capability MSR.
So far all x86 CPUs which support MTRR have this separate bit set, so it
went unnoticed that mtrr_save_state() does not check the capability bit
before accessing the fixed MTRR MSRs.
Though on a CPU that does not support the fixed MTRR capability this
results in a #GP. The #GP itself is harmless because the RDMSR fault is
handled gracefully, but results in a WARN_ON().
Add the missing capability check to prevent this.

x86/mm: Fix pti_clone_entry_text() for i386

While x86_64 has PMD aligned text sections, i386 does not have this
luxery. Notably ALIGN_ENTRY_TEXT_END is empty and _etext has PAGE
alignment.
This means that text on i386 can be page granular at the tail end,
which in turn means that the PTI text clones should consistently
account for this.
Make pti_clone_entry_text() consistent with pti_clone_kernel_text().

x86/mm: Fix pti_clone_pgtable() alignment assumption

Guenter reported dodgy crashes on an i386-nosmp build using GCC-11
that had the form of endless traps until entry stack exhaust and then
#DF from the stack guard.
It turned out that pti_clone_pgtable() had alignment assumptions on
the start address, notably it hard assumes start is PMD aligned. This
is true on x86_64, but very much not true on i386.
These assumptions can cause the end condition to malfunction, leading
to a 'short' clone. Guess what happens when the user mapping has a
short copy of the entry text?
Use the correct increment form for addr to avoid alignment
assumptions.

perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix a topa_entry base address calculation

topa_entry->base is a bit-field. Bit-fields are not promoted to a 64-bit
type, even if the underlying type is 64-bit, and so, if necessary, must
be cast to a larger type when calculations are done.
Fix a topa_entry->base address calculation by adding a cast.
Without the cast, the address was limited to 36-bits i.e. 64GiB.
The address calculation is used on systems that do not support Multiple
Entry ToPA (only Broadwell), and affects physical addresses on or above
64GiB. Instead of writing to the correct address, the address comprising
the first 36 bits would be written to.
Intel PT snapshot and sampling modes are not affected.

topa_entry->base needs to store a pfn. It obviously needs to be
large enough to store the largest possible x86 pfn which is
MAXPHYADDR-PAGE_SIZE (52-12). So it is 4 bits too small.
Increase the size of topa_entry->base from 36 bits to 40 bits.
Note, systems where physical addresses can be 256TiB or more are affected.

KVM: VMX: Split out the non-virtualization part of vmx_interrupt_blocked()

Move the non-VMX chunk of the "interrupt blocked" checks to a separate helper so that KVM can reuse the code to detect if interrupts are blocked for L2, e.g. to determine if a virtual interrupt _for L2_ is a valid wake event. If L1 disables HLT-exiting for L2, nested APICv is enabled, and L2 HLTs, then L2 virtual interrupts are valid wake events, but if and only if interrupts are unblocked for L2. perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix pt_topa_entry_for_page() address calculation

Currently, perf allocates an array of page pointers which is limited in
size by MAX_PAGE_ORDER. That in turn limits the maximum Intel PT buffer
size to 2GiB. Should that limitation be lifted, the Intel PT driver can
support larger sizes, except for one calculation in
pt_topa_entry_for_page(), which is limited to 32-bits.
Fix pt_topa_entry_for_page() address calculation by adding a cast.

errno before returning it.

x86/retpoline: Move a NOENDBR annotation to the SRSO dummy return thunk
The linux-5.10-y backport of commit b377c66ae350 ("x86/retpoline: Add
NOENDBR annotation to the SRSO dummy return thunk") misplaced the new
NOENDBR annotation, repeating the annotation on __x86_return_thunk,
rather than adding the annotation to the !CONFIG_CPU_SRSO version of
srso_alias_untrain_ret, as intended.
Move the annotation to the right place.

efi/x86: Free EFI memory map only when installing a new one.

The logic in __efi_memmap_init() is shared between two different
execution flows:
- mapping the EFI memory map early or late into the kernel VA space, so
that its entries can be accessed;
- the x86 specific cloning of the EFI memory map in order to insert new
entries that are created as a result of making a memory reservation
via a call to efi_mem_reserve().
In the former case, the underlying memory containing the kernel's view
of the EFI memory map (which may be heavily modified by the kernel
itself on x86) is not modified at all, and the only thing that changes
is the virtual mapping of this memory, which is different between early
and late boot.
In the latter case, an entirely new allocation is created that carries a
new, updated version of the kernel's view of the EFI memory map. When
installing this new version, the old version will no longer be
referenced, and if the memory was allocated by the kernel, it will leak
unless it gets freed.
The logic that implements this freeing currently lives on the code path
that is shared between these two use cases, but it should only apply to
the latter. So move it to the correct spot.
While at it, drop the dummy definition for non-x86 architectures, as
that is no longer needed.
