e54163e918 drm/vmwgfx: unbind in vmw_ttm_unpopulate
Doing this in vmw_ttm_destroy() is to late.

It turned out that this is not a good idea at all because it leaves pointers
to freed up system memory pages in the GART tables of the drivers.

2bc5da528d drm/vmwgfx: fix potential UAF in vmwgfx_surface.c
drm_file.master should be protected by either drm_device.master_mutex
or drm_file.master_lookup_lock when being dereferenced. However,
drm_master_get is called on unprotected file_priv->master pointers in
vmw_surface_define_ioctl and vmw_gb_surface_define_internal.

This is fixed by replacing drm_master_get with drm_file_get_master.

cfdc3458db drm/vmwgfx: Be a lot more flexible with MOB limits
The code was trying to keep a strict limit on the amount of mob
memory that was used in the guest by making it match the host
settings. There's technically no reason to do that (guests can
certainly use more than the host can have resident in renderers
at the same time).

In particular this is problematic because our userspace is not
great at handling OOM conditions and running out of MOB space
results in GL apps crashing, e.g. gnome-shell likes to allocate
huge surfaces (~61MB for the desktop on 2560x1600 with two workspaces)
and running out of memory there means that the gnome-shell crashes
on startup taking us back to the login and resulting in a system
where one can not login in graphically anymore.

Instead of letting the userspace crash we can extend available
MOB space, we just don't want to use all of the RAM for graphics,
so we're going to limit it to half of RAM.

With the addition of some extra logging this should make the
"guest has been configured with not enough graphics memory"
errors a lot easier to diagnose in cases where the automatic
expansion of MOB space fails.

2b273544f5 drm/vmwgfx: Cleanup logging
The code was using the old DRM logging functions, which made it
hard to figure out what was coming from vmwgfx. The newer logging
helpers include the driver name in the logs and make it explicit
which driver they're coming from. This allows us to standardize
our logging a bit and clean it up in the process.

vmwgfx is a little special because technically the hardware it's
running on can be anything from the last 12 years or so which is
why we need to include capabilities in the logs in the first
place or otherwise we'd have no way of knowing what were
the capabilities of the platform the guest was running in.

f1f3e37535 drm/vmwgfx: Switch to using DRM_IOCTL_DEF_DRV

Historically our device headers have been forked versions of the
internal device headers, this has made maintaining them a bit
of a burden. To fix the situation, going forward, the device headers

aec70c3912 drm/vmwgfx: replace idr_init() by idr_init_base()
idr_init() uses base 0 which is an invalid identifier for this driver.
The idr_alloc for this driver uses 1 as start value for ID range. The
new function idr_init_base allows IDR to set the ID lookup from base 1.
This avoids all lookups that otherwise starts from 0 since 0 is always
unused / available.

ab4d991363 drm/vmwgfx: Make sure we unpin no longer needed buffers
We were not correctly unpinning no longer needed buffers. In particular
vmw_buffer_object, which is internally often pinned on creation wasn't
unpinned on destruction and none of the internal MOB buffers were
unpinned before being put back. Technically this existed for a
long time but commit 57fcd550eb ("drm/ttm: Warn on pinning without
holding a reference") introduced a WARN_ON which was filling up the
kernel logs rather quickly.

Quite frankly internal usage of vmw_buffer_object and in general
pinning needs to be refactored in vmwgfx but for now this makes
it work.

drm: Use state helper instead of the plane state pointer
Many drivers reference the plane->state pointer in order to get the
current plane state in their atomic_update or atomic_disable hooks,
which would be the new plane state in the global atomic state since
_swap_state happened when those hooks are run.

Use the drm_atomic_get_new_plane_state helper to get that state to make it
more obvious.

drm/atomic: Pass the full state to planes atomic disable and update
The current atomic helpers have either their object state being passed as
an argument or the full atomic state.

The former is the pattern that was done at first, before switching to the
latter for new hooks or when it was needed.

Let's convert the remaining helpers to provide a consistent interface,
this time with the planes atomic_update and atomic_disable.

The conversion was done using the coccinelle script below, built tested on
all the drivers.

drm/atomic: Pass the full state to planes atomic_check
The current atomic helpers have either their object state being passed as
an argument or the full atomic state.

The former is the pattern that was done at first, before switching to the
latter for new hooks or when it was needed.

Let's convert all the remaining helpers to provide a consistent
interface, starting with the planes atomic_check.

The conversion was done using the coccinelle script below plus some
manual changes for vmwgfx, built tested on all the drivers.

d4bd7776a7 drm/ttm: rework ttm_tt page limit v4
TTM implements a rather extensive accounting of allocated memory.

There are two reasons for this:
1. It tries to block userspace allocating a huge number of very small
BOs without accounting for the kmalloced memory.

2. Make sure we don't over allocate and run into an OOM situation
during swapout while trying to handle the memory shortage.

This is only partially a good idea. First of all it is perfectly
valid for an application to use all of system memory, limiting it to
50% is not really acceptable.

What we need to take care of is that the application is held
accountable for the memory it allocated. This is what control
mechanisms like memcg and the normal Linux page accounting already do.

Making sure that we don't run into an OOM situation while trying to
cope with a memory shortage is still a good idea, but this is also
not very well implemented since it means another opportunity of
recursion from the driver back into TTM.

So start to rework all of this by implementing a shrinker callback which
allows for TT object to be swapped out if necessary.

v2: Switch from limit to shrinker callback.
v3: fix gfp mask handling, use atomic for swapable_pages, add debugfs
v4: drop the extra gfp_mask checks

d1a73c641a drm/vmwgfx: Make sure we unpin no longer needed buffers
We were not correctly unpinning no longer needed buffers. In particular
vmw_buffer_object, which is internally often pinned on creation wasn't
unpinned on destruction and none of the internal MOB buffers were
unpinned before being put back. Technically this existed for a
long time but commit 57fcd550eb ("drm/ttm: Warn on pinning without

kernel logs rather quickly.

Quite frankly internal usage of vmw_buffer_object and in general
pinning needs to be refactored in vmwgfx but for now this makes
