Revert "opp: Replace list_kref with a local counter"
This reverts commit 9f7d28075a
which is
commit 03758d60265c773e1d06d436b99ee338f2ac55d6 upstream.
It breaks the API and we don't need it right now in the Android 5.4
tree.
